Composition 6

Garden Cuttings: B. Sharp's intricate compositions are not pressed flowers as such, nor decorative but temporary bouquets set in some design. Sharp uses stalks, leaves, and blossoms as artistic elements of spatial sculpture, that is, the gold frame holds and defines a medley of plantings in three dimensions. Botanical art is as ancient as the Egyptian civilization that used it and painted reliefs. The rock plastic formula developed by Sharp is a modern means of putting together and preserving plant structures and hues of the brief summer season, the garden perennial, so to say, that last and definitely, composed as a work of art. B. Sharp Studio has worked in the garden landscapes with individuals who want their own plant growths preserved, their own planting season to endure, composed for a lifetime. There is no additional cost working to preserve the cuttings of private gardens.

Concerning B. Sharp's Gold leaf sides on shelf sculpture: The method of working of fine gold laminate was learned as an apprentice to an Italian goldsmith, the layering, varnish and finish of melded layers as Renaissance furniture makers use it 500 years ago, an organic rather than an industrial patina. Artisan work of this kind requires days of application, even for surfaces 8 inches long and 1.5 inches in depth (size of the small shelf sculptures). All materials, varnish, brushes, and leaf are imported from manufacturers in the city of Florence.
