Peter Brandt: Biographical Sketch
Born in Hamburg Germany 1947, lived and started my photography career in Montreal Canada in 1964. Here, I started in architectural photography with Montreal's Expo'67 as one of my first major accounts. Then I discovered fashion and advertising, with accounts from Playboy, Seagrams, Sears, to Avon cosmetics.
We moved to Manhattan to expand our work in 1982 to work/live in a loft on Fifth Ave til 2008.
I've been a commercial photographer for 44 years with the desire in the back of my mind to be in the fine arts. In 2008 I made the change: "to be that, which I seek" and moved to Woodstock NY (the colony of the arts).
After three years in the field, I've had many exhibits (7 this year alone) and I have my work in the permanent collection of the NY Historical Society, Museum of the City of NY, and the Canadian Center for Architecture. I have also been invited to share my architectural photography with the Royal Institute of British Architecture who will exhibit my work on their website.
